Ethel M. Anderson Sherwood, 101, a resident of the Watson Memorial Home, died Sunday, June 8, 2014.  She is the daughter of the late Chris and Lona Nelson Anderson.  Ethel was born November 9, 1912, in Irene, SD, moving to Warren at the age of 3.

Ethel was a member of the Bethel Evangelical UMC in Warren until it closed; and then attended the Grace UMC in Warren, and was a member of Stanton UMC in Brookville.  She belonged to the Red Bird Circle, Loyalty Class, the Dessert Club, the Christian Women's Club, and was a volunteer at the Warren General Hospital for many years.  Ethel enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, crocheting and reading.

She is survived by one daughter, Bonita Gilford, and husband, Lawrence, Brookville, PA; and one son, Richard Sherwood, and wife, Mary Lou, Warren, PA; one foster daughter, Bonnie Jean Swanson,  of Mt. Joy, PA; five grandchildren, Debbie Rohlin and her husband Toby, Russell, Bonnie Rhodes and her husband David, Greenville, PA, Scott Gilford, Moon Twp, PA, Brad Sherwood and his wife Lynda, Lancaster, PA, and Heather Gilford, Uniontown, OH ; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three foster grandchildren, Shawn and Matthew Swanson, and Nicole Castro;  and several nieces and nephews.

Ethel was the last surviving member of her immediate family, and in addition to her parents, she was preceded in death on August 2, 1976, by her husband, Oscar Sherwood, whom she married on July 22, 1932, in Frewsburg, NY; two brothers, Fred and Harlan Anderson; two sisters, Myrtle Sorensen and Neva Gustafson; her grandson, Lawrence Sherwood Gilford; and two great-grandsons, twins, Brandon and Logan Sherwood.

Friends will be received at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home Inc., 1003 Penna. Ave. E., Warren, PA,  on Friday, June 13, from 11 to 1 p.m., at which time a funeral service will be held there, with Steve Sorensen, officiating.

Burial will be in the Westview Cemetery.
