Ethel M. "Mae" Porter Bennett, 97, of Youngsville, PA, and formerly of Seneca and Titusville, PA, died Monday December 1, 2015, at the Rouse Home in Youngsville, PA.
Mae was born September 29, 1918, in Saginaw, MI. She was the daughter of the late William and Ethel (Miles) Vaughan. She was raised in southern Michigan, and moved to Titusville at the end of WW II.
Mae enjoyed cooking and baking. She especially enjoyed her family, and was also a loving mother to her extended family for 28 years.
She is survived by two sons, Richard E. Zimmerman, and his wife, Audrey, of Russell, PA, and Robert E. Zimmerman, of San Diego, CA; seven step-children, Larry (Christine), Bruce (Brenda), Ronnie (Diane), Kay (Al), John (Lisa), Danny (Darcy), and Paul; and two grandchildren, Todd Zimmerman, of Englewood, FL, and Jodi Zimmerman, Warren, PA; five great-grandchildren; and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death in 1986 by her second husband, Porter; in 2009, by her third husband, Lawrence Bennett; a step-son, Joseph Bennett, during the Vietnam War; four sisters, Charlotte Mapes, Dorothy Vaughan, Bernice Griffith, and Betty Lou Nelson; and one brother, William Vaughan.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Rouse Home for the wonderful care they gave to Mae during her stay there.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
