Elsie Bella Carlson, 78, of Warren, passed away surrounded by her family on Friday, August 26, 2016, at her residence. Elsie was born May 13, 1938, in Queens, PA. She was the daughter of the late Clair and Hazel Hazlet Tipton.
Elsie was a graduate of West Forest High School. She was an active member of the Warren Wesleyan Church, where she was active in the Women's Missionary. She also taught Sunday school and worked in the Day Care. Elsie worked at Warren Components (Modern Glass) as an assembler for many years. Family was everything to Elsie—she was a mom to not only her six children, but also to many neighborhood children that she babysat.
She is survived by five children, Bella Lander (Scott), of Bethlehem, Forest Carlson (Denise), of Kutztown, Hazel Atwell (Gary), of Warren, Matthew Carlson (Tonya), of Steel City, and Myrna Bowman (Bill), also of Warren. She also has 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death on September 25, 2007, by her husband, Arnold L. Carlson, whom she married September 21, 1957, in Queens, PA; her son, Arnold L. Carlson, Jr.; and twelve siblings.
Friends will be received at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, Inc. 1003 Penn. Ave. E., Warren, on Sunday, August 28, from 5 to 7 p.m., and on Monday, August 29, at Warren Wesleyan Church, 602 4th Avenue, from 10 to 11 a.m., at which time, a funeral service will be held there with Pastor Kyle Pollen officiating.
Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Russell, PA
