Obituary

Elizabeth "Betty" Marie Hottel Streich, 89, died Thursday, June 12, 2014, at the John and Orpha Blair Hospice House after a long illness.  Mrs. Streich was born December 3, 1924, in North Warren, she is the daughter of the late Garrett S. Hottel, Sr. and Laura Blandin.

Betty was a long time resident of North Warren, PA, and a life long member of  the North Warren Presbyterian Church.  She was a graduate of Warren High School, class of 1942, and a 1944 graduate of Millard Fillmore School of Nursing at Fillmore Hospital, Buffalo, NY.

She was a voracious reader of mysteries and selected poetry and had an avid interest in handicrafts of all sorts.

She is survived by three sons, Garrett Edwin Streich, of Warren, Matthew James Streich, of Bethesda, MD, and Andrew Phillip Streich, also of Warren; one granddaughter, Perrin Elizabeth Streich Mettee, of York; three great-grandchildren, Robert James Black, of York, Rebecca Taylor Black, of Casa Grande, AZ, and Carreck Rogan Mettee, also of York; three sisters, Lois Hottel Cole, of Shippenville, Francis Hottel Anderson, of Warren, and Dora Rae Hottel Berardi, of Warren; two sisters-in-law, A. Jayne Tucker, of Warren and Katie Hottel, of Russell.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, H. James Streich, whom she married on August 20, 1946; and her brother, Garrett S. Hottel, Jr.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Warren County, 2 W. Crescent Park, Warren, PA 16365, or the Warren Public Library, 205 Market St., Warren, PA 16365.
