Elizabeth "Betty" Ann Mascaro, 87, of Warren, died Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at Warren General Hospital. Betty was born March 4, 1930, in Warren, PA. She was the daughter of the late John and Marcella (Wooster) Johnson.
Betty was a lifelong area resident of Warren County. She began her restaurant career as a waitress at the Penn Restaurant for many years. She and her late husband, Anthony, then owned and operated Nino's Restaurant from 1951 to 1963, and the Times Square Restaurant from 1963 to 1993. She attended Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church.
A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Betty is survived by three children—Craig Johnson, and wife, Nancy, of Warren, Kim Swedler, and husband, Jack, also of Warren, and Anthony Mascaro, Jr., and wife, Brenda, of Cranberry Twp; five siblings—Marylyn Smith, of Busti, NY, Sandra Smith, and husband, Gail, Joseph Duffy, and Robert Duffy, and wife, Patricia all of Warren, and Kay Beckman, and husband, Tink, of Bath, NY. She also has four grandchildren—Jennifer Norconk, and husband, Timothy, of Dallas, PA, Jobin Swedler, of Pittsburgh, Cody Swedler, and wife, Laura, also of Pittsburgh, and Alexandra Mascaro, of Cranberry Twp; four great-grandchildren—Teagan Norconk, Emmyrson Norconk, Finley Norconk, and Lincoln Swedler; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death on August 2, 1993, by her husband, Anthony J. Mascaro; and two siblings, William Johnson and Patricia Duffy.
Friends will be received at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, Inc. 1003 Penn. Ave. E., Warren, on Friday, January 26, from 4 to 7 p.m. The funeral will be held there on Saturday, January 27, at 11 a.m., with Fr. James Gutting, Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church, officiating.
Entombment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum.
