Elaine M. Sorenson Ainsworth, D. Ed., 76, of Warren, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Warren General Hospital. Elaine was born July 24, 1948, in Jamestown, NY, the daughter of the late Ralph M. and Martha E. (Dunn) Sorenson. Elaine was a graduate of Warren Area High School, Edinboro State College, Columbia University in New York, and received her Doctorate at Penn State University. Elaine was a retired Occupational Therapist and College Professor. Her clinical and administrative areas of expertise included physical disabilities, mental health, home health, neurology, and hand therapy. She was the past owner of Elaine Ainsworth and Associates. Elaine had served on the faculty at Elizabethtown College, Alvernia College, and Penn State University. She also served on the boards of numerous health care agencies, a Lancaster, PA, animal welfare organization and the Cornwall Iron Furnace Associates in Cornwall, PA. Elaine was also a published author and speaker for professional and historical organizations. She was included in numerous editions in the 1990's of Marquis' Who's Who in Healthcare, Who's Who in the East, and Who's Who in American Women. In addition to her career pursuits, Elaine's passions included travel, historical research, and genealogical research. Elaine is survived by her sister, Pamela Stuttler of Leola, PA; brother, Stanley Sorenson of Moneta, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Elaine was preceded in death by her sister, Diane Hartman of Warren, PA. As per Elaine's wishes, no services will be held.
