Edward Walker Buerkle, 73, of Warren, passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2020, at the Rouse Home. Ed was born May 3, 1947, in Warren, PA, the son of the late Edward G. and Mildred F. Buerkle. He grew up in Warren and was a 1965 graduate of the Warren Area High School. Ed the joined the United States Air Force and served for twenty-four years. He was stationed throughout the world. Upon his retirement from the service and his return to Warren, Ed worked for the Warren County School District in Maintenance and Grounds. He also worked part time at the Bi-Lo Market in the produce department. He was a member of the American Legion Post 135, where he and his wife enjoyed dancing on the weekends. He was a man who enjoyed working, enjoyed his family, and especially enjoyed his grandchildren. Ed is survived by his wife of 45 years, Wanda S. Butler Buerkle; his daughter, Shilo M. Weir and her husband Matthew, Colorado Springs, CO; his three sons, Robert D. Carden and his wife Cheryl, Colorado Springs, CO, Edward T. Buerkle and his wife Julie, Minot, ND, and Charles E. Buerkle and his wife Sarah, Potaskala, OH; seven grandchildren, Michael Carden, Kaitlyn and Zoe Weir, and Sloane, Scott, Lizzy, and Josh Buerkle; two sisters, Bobbie Henry, Youngsville, PA, and Marilyn Hildum and her husband Larry, Warren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by a son, James Buerkle. Friends will be received at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home Inc., 1003 Penna. Ave. East, Warren, on Tuesday, December 29, from 2 to 4 pm. In accordance with CDC guidelines, masks must be worn, and social distancing will be followed. A private funeral service will be held, with Rev. Rick Hamrick, pastor, Youngsville Free Methodist Church, officiating.
