Obituary



Dr. J. Blair Logan, 85, of Lansing Street, Warren, PA, passed away on Monday, February 11, 2013 at Warren Manor.

Dr. Logan was born June 14, 1927, in Tiona, PA, the son of the late John and Adda Blair Logan. He enlisted in the US Navy Seabees, and was stationed in the Philippines in World War II.  Dr. Logan obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree from Edinboro, he then went on to obtain his Masters of Education and then his Doctorate of Education.  He was an educator, teacher, Principal, and Director of Instructions at P.S.U., and also held the position of Director of Education, Warren County School District, for many years.

He attended First Presbyterian Church where he was a Sunday Circle Instructor.  He was also very active in many organizations, including the Masons, Red Cross, Jr. Red Cross, Retired Teachers, Warren Senior Center, Jamestown Seabees, Warren Kiwanis Club and Blueberry Golf Club.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Markley Logan, whom he married June 13, 1964; five nieces and nephews, Larry Logan, Clarendon, PA, John Logan, Warren, PA, Susan Metters, Redmond, WA, Janet Mulhern, Meridian, ID, Nancy Mullnix, Danville, CA; two great-nephews and a great niece, Phil, Matthew and Jessica.

In addition to his parents, Dr. Logan was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Lou Peckham; and a brother and his wife, Glenn M. and Gerry Logan

Friends will be received in the parlors at the First Presbyterian Church, 300 Market Street, Warren, on Saturday, February 16, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, at which time a funeral service will be held there with The Rev. Ellie Johns-Kelley, pastor, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Russell, PA.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to First Presbyterian Church, 300 Market Street, Warren, PA 16365; Hospice of Warren County, 2 Crescent Park West, Warren, PA 16365;  American Red Cross, Warren County Chapter, 305 Market Street, Warren, PA 16365 or the Kiwanis Club Warren Chapter.
