Doris M. Moore, 96, of formerly of Sheffield, died Thursday, August 25, 2016, at the Warren Manor.  Doris was born December 5, 1919, in Johnstown, PA. She was the daughter of the late S. Le Roy and Margaret (Davis) Mahan.

Doris was raised in Ebensburg, and was a 1937 graduate of Ebensburg High School. She attended Indiana State Teacher's College (now Indiana University of PA), graduating in 1941.  Doris taught at Sheffield Elementary School from 1941 to 1953.  After raising her own children, she returned to work to teach kindergarten in 1963, retiring in 1982.

She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, the Sheffield Women's Club, and the Retired Teacher's Association.  Doris enjoyed bridge, dancing, traveling, cross country skiing, reading, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by one daughter, Pamela Moore, of Erie, and one son, Rodney Moore, and wife, Maureen, of Warren.  She also has three grandchildren, Jacob, Dylan and Carly Moore; one niece, Carolyn McFarland; and four nephews, Rick Moore, Drew Hauth, David Hauth, and Jim Newton.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert G. Moore, in 1998, whom she married February 7, 1942; and two siblings, Jane Hauth and Marjorie Newton.

Friends will be received at Bethany Lutheran Church, 110 Church St., Sheffield, on Monday, August 29, from 5 to 7 p.m., and on Tuesday, August 30, from 11 a.m. to 12 noon, at which time a funeral service will be held there with The Rev. Jeffrey Ewing, pastor, officiating.

Private burial will be in Sheffield Cemetery.
