Doris E. "Meems" Christy, 94, of 55 Highland Drive, Warren, died Friday, April 11, 2014, at the Rouse Home of Youngsville, PA. Meems was born December 18, 1919, in Buffalo, NY, the daughter of the late Harry and Florence Schmidt Leiser.

She attended Bryant & Stratton Business School, where she met her husband, the late Evan E. Christy.  She and her husband managed Northern Oil Company; she later worked as the office manager for West Penn Oil, from which she retired.

Meems was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Warren, PA, where she was a member of many groups and circles.  Meems was a Gold Star Member of the Eastern Star, and a charter member of the Daughters of the Nile.  She loved spending time with her family especially at the family cottage in Maple Springs on Chautauqua Lake, cooking, and was an avid bingo player--especially frequenting the Warren Senior Center and Pleasant Township Firehall.

She is survived by one son, Ronald E. Christy, and his wife, Coleen, of Warren, PA; six grandchildren; Ryan E. Christy, of Warren, PA, Todd P. Christy, and wife, Joyce, of Pittsburgh, PA, Dean A. Christy, and wife, Cathy, of Winston Salem, NC, Tom E. Welch, Jr., and wife, Janet, of Bradford, PA, Brent M. Welch, of Bradford, PA, and Christy Giquinto, and husband, Rocco, of Bradford, PA; thirteen great-grandchildren, Devan Christy, Lauren Christy, Sawyer Christy, Joshua Ellis, and wife, Julie, Sarah Ellis, Natalie Corbin and husband, Aaron, Brent Welch Jr., Brandon Welch, Diana Welch, Alice Champion, Marty Murray, Elijah Highhouse and Kylie Highhouse; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Meems is preceded in death on August 9, 1984, by her husband, Evan E. Christy, whom she married July 16, 1938 in Tonawanda, NY; and her daughter, Janet May Welch.

Friends will be received at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, Inc. 1003 Pennsylvania Avenue, East, Warren, on Tuesday, April 15, from 5 to 8 p.m., and on Wednesday, April 16, at the First Presbyterian Church, 300 Market Street from 10 to 11 a.m., at which time a funeral service will be held there, with The Rev. George Johnson, Parish Associate, officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Kane, PA.
