Doris E. Bastow, 94, passed away on May 26, 2020, at the Rouse Home. A long-time resident of Sheffield, PA. She was born in Coudersport, PA, on December 13, 1925, to Irving Edward and Bertha Smith Veley. She was a graduate of Warren High School, in 1943. Doris was a former resident of Kinzua, she worked at Sheldon Handle Factory, Warren Components and retired from Loranger Manufacturing Corp. after 29 years of service. Doris was also a 65-year member of the Sheffield United Methodist Church and of the Allegheny Outdoor Club. She was a volunteer at the Sheffield Thrift Shop and the Sheffield Food Pantry. She is survived by a sister Marion Swanson, of Pittsfield; six children, Jack (Marcia) Bastow, of Rockdale, TX, Kenneth (Linda) Bastow, of McCormick, SC, David (Linda) Bastow, of Edinboro, PA, Nancy Bullock and Debra Bastow, of Warren PA, and Brian (Colleen) Bastow, of Ludlow, PA; 13 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack William Bastow, on April 19, 1979; her brother, Donald Edward Veley, who died at 10 months; her sisters, Eloise Bargerstock, who died in 2009 and Carol Perry, of Mobile, AL. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family, with a burial at Warren County Memorial Park, next to her husband. In lieu of flowers it has been requested that memorial donations be made to the Sheffield United Methodist Church, 11 W Main St, Sheffield, PA 16347 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
