Donald P. Day, 89, of 1 Hummingbird Lane, Warren, PA, passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2016, at the Warren General Hospital.
Don was born September 23, 1926, the son of the late Elmer and Mary Margaret Sweeney Day. A lifelong Warren resident, Don left High School to enlist in the US Navy, serving five years in the Pacific during WWII. He then was employed as a Utility Operator in the Plating Department at GTE Sylvania for 38 years, from which he retired in 1989.
Don loved to hunt, and especially loved his family and his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Janet L. Lauffenberger day, whom he married on September 21, 1957; one son, Timothy Day, of Warren; twin daughters, Denise Rougeux and her husband Russell, of Wisconsin, and Debbie Murray and her husband Calvin, of Warren, and Cynthia Hultberg, and her husband Kevin, Warren, five grandchildren, Karen Babcock and her husband Ryan, Taylor Day, Randy Rougeux, Brian Rougeux, and Brenda Rougeux Kunze, and husband Andy; one great granddaughter, Lainey Babcock; five step grandchildren, Ben, Libby and Mallory Hammond, Ali Hultberg and Jessica Berchtold and husband Mark; two sisters, Doris Burkland, of Fredonia, and Suzie Nucco, of Fredericksburg, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his son, Kevin Day; and four brothers, Richard, Sam, Kenneth, and Virgil Day.
Friends will be received at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home Inc., 1003 Penna. Ave. E., Warren, PA, 16365 on Tuesday, May 31, from 11 am until 12 noon, at which time a memorial service will be held, with Rev. Marcus Briggs, officiating.
The family asks friends to consider memorial donations be made to Hospice of Warren County, 1 Main Ave., Warren, PA 16365
