Diedra C. Andersen, 82, a lifelong resident of Russell, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother died Monday, May 23, 2016, at Warren General Hospital surrounded by her loving family.  Diedra was born October 12, 1933, in Russell.

Diedra was a 1951 graduate of Warren High School.   She worked as an LPN for 18 years for Jamestown General Hospital. After JGH closed, she continued her nursing at the Jamestown Resource Center and finished her nursing career working at the Rouse Home in Youngsville.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Russell Knitting Club, a Den mother in the Cub Scouts, a PTA president, and was a drum majorette for the Russell Volunteer Fire Department band. She was also an Avon Lady for 38 years.

She is survived by her husband, Donald J. Andersen, whom she married December 31, 1951; five children, Donald J. Andersen, Jr., of Hiram, GA, Jere Andersen, of Jamestown, NY,  Jeffrey Andersen and companion Jill, of Warren, PA, Jay Andersen, and wife, Linda, of North Warren, PA, and Melanie Firth, and husband, Benjamin, of Anchor Point, AK, grandchildren Samuel Andersen and wife Billie Jo, Jamie Shorts and husband Robert, Diedra Stewart and husband Dustin, Damon Andersen, Heather Christensen, Dustin and Eric Andersen, Aurora, Barnabas, Sarah, Silas, Josiah, Anna, Aspen, and Haven Firth, twelve great-grandchildren, sister Julie Hunter, of Orchard Park, NY, and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her faithful dachshund, Snaps.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Myrnabelle Peterson, Evelyn Bauer, Lillian Nickerson, Edna Curtin, brother Glenn (Bud) Strong, and three grandsons: Jeremy Paul Andersen, Jody Scott Andersen, and Jeremy Michael Andersen.

In accordance with Diedra's wishes, no services will be observed.D
