Obituary

Dianne A. Sherman, 68, of Warren, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2016, at Select Specialty Hospital of Erie, following a brief stay.  Dianne was born June 29, 1947, in Jamestown, NY. She is the daughter of Joyce Sadler McNaughton, formerly of Russell, and the late Arthur Briggs.

Dianne had lived most of her life in Russell.  She had obtained her Bachelor's Degree in History from Roberts Wesleyan College, and earned her Master's in Counseling from Liberty University.  Dianne's passion was in helping others and leading others to Jesus.  She worked as a counselor for Family Services and as a caseworker for Early Intervention in the past. She also served as the church counselor at Praise! Fellowship, and was active with the Warren County Jail Ministry.

Through her experience, Dianne saw a need to help women transition back into the community after spending time in a correctional facility.  She wanted to provide a loving and supportive environment to prepare them for daily life.  In 2012, she founded the House of Hope of Warren County, where she was currently serving as director and seeing her mission through.

Dianne was an incredibly gentle and kind soul who loved everyone she met.  That love was evident in her every action, thought and word. She radiated Christ's love in every moment of every day to everyone she met.  She was not afraid to pass on, as she knew exactly where she was going. She is Home, in Heaven, now and is free of pain.

In addition to her mother, Joyce McNaughton, and step-mother, Jacky Briggs, Dianne is survived by her two children, Emily Wachter, and husband, Ramie, of Pittsfield, and Nathan Sherman, and wife, Regi, of Russell; one brother, Rev. Marcus Briggs, and wife, Cindy, of Russell; one half-sister, Rebecca Schwarz, of TX; six grandchildren, Austin Hodak, Sienna and Abel Wachter, and Grant, Gabriel and Gavin Sherman; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Briggs; step-father, Velmour "Mac" McNaughton; and maternal and paternal grandparents.

Friends will be received at Praise! Fellowship, 7451 Market Street, Russell, on Thursday, May 5, from 4 to 6 p.m.  A Celebration of Life Service will commence there at 6 p.m., with Rev. Rick Rohlin, pastor, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to place memorial contributions should consider the House of Hope of Warren County, PO Box 881, Warren, PA 16365.
