Obituary

Dennis Edwin Rodgers, 72, of Russell, PA, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2023, at the John and Orpha Blair Hospice House in Warren, PA. Dennis was born on June 14, 1950, in Warren, the son of the late Charles Rodgers and Frances Wright Rodgers DeVore. He was a 1968 graduate of Warren Area High School and then enlisted in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1971 where he was stationed in Germany. He was a Customer Service Manager for Weber Knapp for 31 years from which he retired in 2015. Dennis was a member of the Russell United Methodist Church where he served as trustee. He was also a member of the Frewsburg Legion, played in the Golf League at Maplehurst, and participated in the Hand of the Carpenter organization. He was very involved in all of his boys' sports activities. He was an active member of the EHS football and soccer boosters. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and birdwatching. Dennis is survived by his wife, Shelly J. Shaffer Rodgers, whom he married on February 14, 1981; sons, Trevor Rodgers of Warren, Todd Rodgers and wife Stacy of Glenshaw, PA, Aaron Rodgers and wife Jessica of Clemmons, NC, and Jeffrey Rodgers of Warren, PA; seven grandchildren, Madelyn, Zoe, William, Fletcher, Caleb, Gavin, and Micah Rodgers; in-laws, Ralph and Janice Shaffer; and several nieces and nephes. In addition to his parents, Dennis is preceded in death by his brother, Charles Rodgers II; stepfather, William DeVore; and former daughter-in-law, Katie Rodgers. Friends will be received at Peterson-Blick Funeral Home Inc., 1003 Penna Ave. E., Warren, PA, on Sunday, February 19, 2023, from 2:00pm to 5:00pm and for one hour prior to a service that will be held at Russell United Methodist Church, 17 N. Main St., Russell, PA, on Monday, February 20, 2023, at 11:00am, with Pastor Bay Allen, officiating. Memorial contributions for Dennis may be made to Russell United Methodist Outreach Ministry, or to Hospice of Warren County, 1 Main Ave., Warren, PA.
