David L. Farr, 78, of 114 Old Pittsfield Road, Youngsville, PA., died Friday, March 21, 2014 at the Rouse Home.
David was born May 22, 1935 in Warren, PA, the son of the late Jacob and Mary A. (Prokopchik) Farr. A lifelong area resident, David was employed at Betts Industries, holding various positions for forty-eight years. Following his retirement at Betts, he worked part time with Interelectric, also in Warren. He was a very active member of the Youngsville Free Methodist Church for more than forty years, serving as Treasurer for several years. David enjoyed his work, travelling, vintage autos, car shows, and antiques. He also loved to fish and garden. He took great pride in having the first early tomato amongst his gardening peers!
David especially enjoyed his family, who likewise, will miss him dearly.
He is survived by his wife of fifty eight years, Loretta (Trawick) Farr, whom he married at the Grace United Methodist Church of Warren on November 25, 1955; two sons, James A. Farr and his wife Patricia, Youngsville, and John R. Farr, also of Youngsville; a brother, William R. Farr and his wife JoAnn, Falconer, NY; two grandchildren, James A. Farr and his wife Lisa, Houghton, LA, and Linda Marie Farr and her companion Walter, Sugar Grove, PA; three great grandchildren, Lucy Farr, Jackson Farr, and Gracie Kuzminski; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, David A. Farr, in 1989.
Friends will be received at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, 1003 Penna. Ave. E., Warren, PA. 16365, on Monday, March 24, from 6 to 8 pm.
Friends will also be received at the Youngsville Free Methodist Church, 179 Davis Street, Youngsville, PA, 16371, on Tuesday, March 25, for one hour prior to a funeral service to be held there at 11 am., with Rev. Rick Hamrick, pastor, and Rev. Kathy Thompson, officiating.
