David J. Cassidy, 86, MSGT U.S. Air Force retired, of Warren, passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2025, following a lengthy illness. David was born November 5, 1938, in Erie, PA, the son of the late Edward J. and Edna B. (Rood) Cassidy. He was a 1956 graduate of Academy High School in Erie. He served in the U. S. Air Force for 26 years during the Vietnam War, Southeast Asia War, and the Cuban Missile Crisis, and was awarded many medals during his service. After retiring from the service in 1982 he was employed at Loranger's Manufacturing and bartended at the Warren Elks Club and then he became Director of Veterans Affairs of Warren County. David was a member of the American Legion Post 135, Sheffield VFW Post 8755, and VFW Color Guard. David was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church. He enjoyed golfing at Maplehurst and Cable Hollow Golf Courses. David was known for leaving gold coins for the waitresses that served him at the many restaurants. He enjoyed participating in the 4th of July Parade for many years carrying the American Flag. He enjoyed taking donuts to the gals at the Warren VA Clinic, KeyBank, and Grace United Methodist Church. David is survived by his companion of 45 years, Joyce Carnahan; son, Jeff Cassidy and companion, Caren, of Roy, Utah; daughters, Jennifer Cassidy of Annapolis, Maryland, and Jessica Cassidy of Riverdale, Utah; two grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his siblings, Gerald Cassidy, Richard Cassidy, Virginia Elletson, and Marilyn Gerard. Friends will be received at Peterson-Blick Funeral Home Inc., 1003 Penna. Ave. East, Warren, PA, on Sunday, June 1, 2025, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. A Graveside service with Military Honors will be held at Oakland Cemetery, Veterans Section, 37 Mohawk Ave, Warren, PA, on Monday, June 2, 2025, at 1:00pm, with the Reverend Bill Beatty and Reverend Ralp Culp, co-officiating. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, www.stjude.org.
