Daniel James Oberg, 57, of Warren, PA, passed away unexpectedly, at home on November 14, 2016.
He was born in Jamestown, NY, on December 18, 1959, the first born son of the late Charles E. Oberg, and J. Marilyn Oberg of Warren, who survives. He spent the first ten years of his life in Frewsburg, NY. At the age of ten, the family moved to Perrysburg, OH.
Shortly after graduation from Perrysburg High School in 1977, Daniel enlisted in the US Army and served as a quartermaster in Giebelstadt, Germany for two years. Upon discharge he returned to Ohio for a short while, later moving to Warren, PA, where he remained for the rest of his life.

He was a talented musician and played numerous instruments and especially his guitars. He played with the Gypsies, Allegheny River Monsters, Inside Out, Exit 65 and Transitions, among others. Daniel was accomplished vocalist, as well, and released original music on 2 CDs. He was very fond of animals, especially his dogs Keeta and Logan, and his horse Raven. He was a member of BSA Troop 110 and attended the National Jamboree in 1973. He was a very outdoorsy person, enjoyed fishing and horseback riding, and also an afternoon with a good book.
In addition to his mother and step-father, Edward R. Derby, he is survived by his wife, Sherri Zurcher Oberg, whom he married August 1, 2007; two brothers, David Oberg, Grand Valley, PA; and John Oberg, and wife Iris, Folsom, CA; two step daughters, Connie Benton, and husband Brad, Warren, PA, and Jessi Johnson, PAC, Pittsburgh, PA: one grandson, Duane Wagner, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles, in 1993, and his sister, Carole L. Finger, in 2013.
Friends will be received at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, Inc. 1003 Penn. Ave. E., Warren, on Tuesday, November 22, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, at which time a memorial service will be held there with Rev. Dr. Mark Hecht, pastor, First United Methodist Church, officiating.
