Chuck Lyon, 68, of Clarendon, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 31, 2013. Chuck was born October 29, 1945, in Warren, PA, the son of the late Charles E. Lyon, Sr. and Belva Lucille (Holmes) Lyon.
Chuck had served in the Air Force as a crew chief during the Vietnam War. He had previously been employed by GE in Erie, and later worked for Betts Machine Shop for 24 years. Most recently, he had driven school bus; and also driven bus for the Salvation Army Summer Program and the YMCA. He was a dedicated member of the Faith Fellowship Church of God, where he was a senior board member, serving as Treasurer. He was also a member of the American Fishing Association, and also enjoyed hunting. Chuck was an avid bowler on a Monday Night League.
Most importantly, Chuck was a loving and caring friend that will be deeply missed by all who knew him, especially his family and church family.
Chuck is survived by one son, Steven Lyon, and his wife, Patty, Sheffield, and their children, Kyle Lyon and Austin Nasman; he is also survived by one sister, Joan Colvin, and her husband, Bryan, Glade Manor; two brothers, Larry Lyon, and wife, Debbie, Clarendon, and Dave Lyon, and his companion, Lois Burkey, Chapman Dam; several nieces and nephews; and his church family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Lyon, whom he married on September 19, 1966, and passed away on March 31, 2008; his stillborn daughter, Susan, and stillborn twins.
Friends will be received on Friday, January 3, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Peterson - Blick Funeral Home, Inc, 1003 Penn Ave., E., Warren, PA. The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 4, at Faith Fellowship Church of God, 208 Market Street, Warren, PA with Rev. Dorothy Hilliard, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Russell.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Faith Fellowship Church of God, 208 Market Street, Warren, PA 16365 or Clarendon Volunteer Fire Department, 17 N. Main Street, Clarendon, PA 16313.
