Obituary

Charles A. Newman, 82, of Warren, died Sunday, February 25, 2018, at the Warren Manor.  Charles was born May 10, 1935, in Warren, PA. He was the son of the late Gust W. and Olive Hanmore Newman.

Charles was a 1953 graduate of Sheffield High School and attended the University of Cincinnati.  He enlisted in the US Army where he was stationed with Company A, and had served in the Honor Guard at the Arlington National Cemetery.  Charles was also honored to serve at the Inauguration of President Eisenhower.  Upon returning to Warren, Charles was employed by the former Bell Telephone Company (Verizon), from which he retired after 35 years.

He was a 50 year member of the Joseph Warren Lodge #0726 Free and Accepted Masons; the Coudersport Consistory; Lakewood Rod & Gun Club; and the McDonald's Coffee Club.  He had also coached the Warren Hot Stove Little League for many years.

Charles enjoyed hunting, fishing, and Blue Grass music.  He and his wife enjoyed traveling in their RV "Poppa's Bus," and camping at the Warren County Fair.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Nancy Irwin Newman, whom he married in August 1,1956, in Kane, PA;  and two daughters, Shelby Maney, and husband, Joe, of Warren, PA, and Cynthia Newman, of Palm Springs, CA; one brother, Boyd Newman, and wife, Linda, of FL; three grandchildren, Brandi Lynn McKee, and husband, Aaron, and their children, Carter and Luca, Curt Maney, and wife, Bethany, and their son, Rylan, and Lacey Newman, and fiancé, Adam, and their children, Drake, Trevor, Brooke and Ezra.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his son, Bruce E. Newman, in 2015; and three brothers, Robert, Clare and Gale Newman.

Friends will be received at the Peterson - Blick Funeral Home, Inc, 1003 Penn Ave., E., Warren, on Saturday, March 3, for one hour prior to a service to be held there at 11 a.m., with Rev. Gary Shilling, pastor, officiating.  The Joseph Warren Lodge #0726 will hold Masonic Funeral Rites at 10:50 a.m.  Military honors will be provided by members of the Youngsville American Legion Honor Guard.
