Carol Marie Almendinger, 78, of Sheffield, passed away Saturday, December 14, 2013, with her family by her side.  Carol was born October 19, 1935, in Tiona, PA, the daughter of the late Carl and Myrtle Bengston Stranburg.

Carol worked at the Blair Corporation for 33 years as a clerk.  Upon her retirement, she managed the Harmony Lakeshore Inn in the Pocono Mountains.  She enjoyed camping and playing cards, and had recently found much enjoyment in teaching her great-nephews how to play many card games.  In her youth, she had been a member of the Tiona United Methodist Church.

She is survived by three daughters, Patricia Fellows, Sheffield, PA, Debra Myer, and husband, James, also of Sheffield, PA and Shirley Ecker, Ashville, NY; one son, John Almendinger, and wife, Eugina, Warren,  PA; one brother, Carl Stranburg, and wife, Patsy, Warren, PA; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Edward Almendinger, on July 29, 2012; two brothers, Ernie Anderson and Jack Stranburg; and two sisters, Beverly Cupp and Ann Exley.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, December 18, at the Tiona United Methodist Church, Six Mile Road, Tiona, PA 16352, from 11 a.m. to 12 noon, at which time, a memorial service will be held there with Rev. Martin Reynolds, pastor, officiating.
