Carmen E. Livezey, 88, of Rouse Warren County Home, formerly of the Rouse Suites and RD #3 Sugar Grove, died at Rouse Warren County Home, Youngsville, PA, on Saturday, November 16, 2002.
Mrs. Livezey was born August 23, 1914, in Kinzua, PA, the daughter of the late Clyde and Sadie Weldon English. Mrs. Livezey graduated from Kinzua High School in 1932, and Taylor University in Upland, Indiana in 1936. She taught English and Latin at Kinzua High School from 1936 - 1941 and then at Eisenhower High School from 1957 until retiring in 1978.
She authored four short books on the history and people of the Kinzua Valley prior to the building of the Kinzua Dam.
She was a member of the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church, holding various offices in the church, including the Board Of Administrators
She was a member of the Reading Club and the Gideons International Auxillary.
She is survived by; two sons: Lowell W. Livezey of Chicago, ILL, Noble F. Livezey of Jamestown, NY; one daughter: Mrs.Gerald (Carla) Thelander of Jamestown, NY; one brother: Gerald H. English of Derrick City, PA;
seven granchildren : Erik Thelander, Littleton Colorado, Andrew Thelander, Park City, Utah, Lisa Balfour, Tallahassee Florida, Sena Rogers, W. Lafayette, Indiana, Mark Livezey, Harleysville, PA. , Lorne Livezey, Jamestown N.Y. , Shawn Livezey, Rochester N.Y.one great-grandchild , Caleb Livezey ,and two nieces
She was preceded in death on August 8, 2001 by her husband William Merrill Livezey, whom she married on July 25, 1940.
Friends may call at the Peterson - Blick Funeral Home, Inc, 1003 Penn Ave., E., Warren, PA on Friday November 22, 2002 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m., where a funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 23 at 11:00 am, Rev. Paul Fields, pastor Sugar Grove United Methodist Church, Rev. Neil Siefert, pastor Emanuel United Church of Christ, and Rev. Marcus Briggs, chaplain, Rouse Home, co-officiating.
Burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Russell.
The family suggests memorial donations to Gideons International or to Sugar Grove United Methodist Church.
