Carl D. "Gab" Peterson, 87, of Kinzua Rd, Warren, PA, died on Tuesday morning, January 8, 2013 at the Warren Manor.

Gab was born December 25, 1925, in Kinzua, PA, the son of the late Emanuel and Lucy Bianco Peterson. A lifelong area resident, Gab was a 1943 graduate of Warren High School. He then served in the Army during WWII, serving in the European Theatre. Gab was employed with Penelec for thirty-eight years as a load dispatcher, retiring in February 1986.  He was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Sheffield, the Sheffield VFW, the American Legion Post 135, the Eagles Club and formerly a member of the Moose Lodge 109.

He is survived by his wife, Earlene M. Hanna Peterson, Warren, PA, whom he married on June 24, 1949 in Frewsburg, NY; two sons, Craig Peterson and Scott Peterson, both of Sanford NC; two daughters,  Kathi Smith and her husband  Derrick, and Shelly Nichols, also both of Sandford, NC; a brother,  Ray Peterson, Warren, PA; a sister,  Ruth Bennett, Sheffield, PA; four grandchildren, Leslie Smith Moshfegh, Carlton Dane Peterson, Nathan Steven Peterson; and Joshua Ross Peterson; two great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Peterson; and four sisters, Rena Hammond, Doris Jenkins, Ida Dunlap, and Viola Plyler.

Friends will be received at the Peterson - Blick Funeral Home, Inc., 1003 Penn Ave., E., Warren, on Thursday, January 10, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, January 11 at 12:00 pm, Rev. David Blank, officiating.

Burial will be in the Willow Dale Cemetery, Bradford, PA.
