Betty Louise Lester, 84, of Scranton Hollow Road, PA. passed away Sunday, December 29, 2013 at the Rouse Home.

Betty was born January 27, 1929 in Warren, PA, the daughter of the late Leon H. and Viola V. Highhouse Mintzer. A lifelong area resident, Betty was employed at Grant's and later at Jamesway for sixteen years, from which she retired. Betty attended the First Assembly of God and more recently, the First Church of the Nazarene.  She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening, and especially her family and friends. Betty will always be remembered as a strong and loving mother, and a pillar of the family.

She is survived by Jan Moore of Warren, PA, Juanita Courson and husband James, Sugar Grove, PA, Sandra Carey and husband William, TN, and Sue Kaul and husband Richard, ME; three sons, Terry Lester, Warren, PA, Davey Lester and wife Bonnie, Jamestown, NY, and Timothy Lester, and wife Rose, Jamestown, NY; a sister, Eleanor Mintzer Williams, Dallas, GA.; twenty seven grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death in 1995 by her husband Gerald T. Lester, whom she married on November 12, 1949; and by a son, Gary L. Lester  in 1995.

Friends will be received at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home Inc., 1003 Penna. Ave. E., Warren, PA. 16365, on Friday, January 3, for one hour prior to a memorial service to be held there at 11 am, with Rev. Marcus Briggs, chaplain, Warren County Rouse Home, and Warren General Hospital, officiating.

The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Warren County Veteran's Association, or the American Cancer Society.
