Betty J. Kifer, 90, of Sheffield, died Tuesday, April 12, 2016, at the Warren Manor.  Betty was born September 21, 1925, in Warren, PA. She was the daughter of the late Irvine R. and Ruth E. (Black) Howarth.

Betty was a lifelong area resident of Sheffield.  For many years, she worked at Groboski Industries in Sheffield, from which she retired in 1976.  She was a member of the Sheffield First United Methodist Church.  She enjoyed her pets, reading, and especially her family.  She will be remembered as a hard worker and a great homemaker.

She is survived by five children, James Kifer, of Los Angeles, CA, Ruth Ann Morley Varrato, of Sheffield, Robert Emerson, and wife, Lynn, of Seneca, Deborah Galbraith, and husband, Alan, of Carlisle and Richard Kifer, and wife, Jackie, of Sheffield; 5 grandchildren; numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death on June 19, 1993, by her husband, Donald Andrew Kifer; and her brother, John Howarth.

Friends will be received at the Peterson - Blick Funeral Home, Inc, 1003 Penn Ave., E., Warren, on Friday, April 15, from 6 to 8 p.m., and at the Sheffield First United Methodist Church, 5 W. Main St., Sheffield, on Saturday, April 16, from 10 to 11 a.m., at which time, a funeral service will be held there, with Rev. Terry Teluch, pastor, officiating.  Burial will follow at Sheffield Cemetery.
