Betty Jeanette Garvin Johnson, 86, of Russell, PA, passed away on Friday, July 9, 2021 at the Rouse Home. Betty was born February 22, 1935, in Kinzua, PA, the daughter of the late Margaret Garvin, and her stepfather Forest Smith. Betty was a 1953 graduate of High School, attended the Allentown Bible College, and graduated the Canonsburg School of Nursing. She worked as a Registered Nurse in private practice for several years, and then the former Keystone Nursing Home on Penna. Ave. in Warren. She was later a Nurse at the Warren State Hospital for nineteen years, from which she retired. Betty was an Avon Lady for more than forty years. She was a longtime member of the Cable Hollow Community Church and also attended the Wiltsie Community Church. She enjoyed baking, gardening, and her house plants. She will be forever remembered for her phenomenal Christmas celebration and gifts for the children and grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and great-grandmother. Betty is survived by her three daughters, Joyce Benton and companion Greg Leofsky of Youngsville, Dawn Keller and husband Jeff of Russell, and Faith Thomas and husband Kevin of Russell; a daughter in law, Rene Johnson of Russell, thirteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; a brother, Wayne Smith and his wife Paula, Plantation, FL, brother Irving Smith and wife Anne of Saskatchewan, Canada; a sister, Carol Carlson, of Cleona, PA; and many nieces and nephews. Betty was preceded in death on January 2, 2021 by her husband Robert V. Johnson; and her son, Robert V. Johnson II on January 17, 2021. The family will receive friends at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home Inc., 1003 Penna. Ave. East, Warren, on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, from 6 to 8 pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 14, at 11 am, with Rev. Jeff York, chaplain, Rouse Home, officiating. Burial will be in the Thompson Hill Cemetery.
