Dunkle
January 1, 1946 – February 19, 2016
Betty Jane (Simpson) Dunkle, 70, formerly of 190 Brockway Lane, Sheffield, and most recently of Conewango Avenue, Warren, died February 19, 2016, at the Warren General Hospital. She was born January 1, 1946, in Oil City, PA, she was the seventh of eight children to the late Clyde Kenneth and Ella Elizabeth (Brockway) Simpson.
She enjoyed reading, sewing, drawing, painting, genealogy and computers. She received her Associate's degree from San Jacinto College in Pasadena, TX, completed her third year of college at McNeese State University in Lake Charles, LA, and graduated from Edinboro University, Edinboro, PA, in 1988, with a Bachelor of Science, majoring in accounting. She was a former Brownie Troop Leader, PTO vice-president, and she formerly worked with the local literacy council teaching adults to learn to read. She and her husband owned and operated Crystal Creek Mobile Home Park in Sheffield, PA.
When she was given the opportunity to rename the street she resided on, she renamed it to honor her Brockway family heritage. Her aunt, Alice Brockway, lived in Sheffield, PA, in 1900. She complied a book, Our Brockway Line , and wrote another book, Childhood Illusions , on her life experiences. She was currently working on a book compiling the Dunkle genealogy.
She is survived by her husband, Richard L. Dunkle; and three children, Kenneth Dunkle, of Warren, Carmen Uplinger, of Irvine, and Rebecca Dunkle of NY; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and two siblings, Roberta Winger, of Seneca, and Richard W. Simpson, of Montgomery, TX.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Melvin C., Edward K., Robert P., John E., and Clyde R. Simpson.
There will be no public visitation. Inurnment will be in Grove Hill Cemetery, Oil City. Memorial contributions may be made to Paws Along the River, 212 Elm Street, Warren, PA 16365, Warren Public Library, 205 Market Street, Warren, PA 16365 or the Warren County Historical Society, 210 4th Avenue, Warren, PA 16365.
