Obituary

Betty E. Dickerson, 88, of Warren, passed away at her residence on Thursday, August 16, 2018, following a courageous battle against Parkinson's disease. Born Betty Elaine Burke, on October 19,1929 in Warren, a daughter to the late Llewellyn T. Burke and Inez Franklin Burke Porter. On May 27, 1950, she married Paul R. Dickerson who survives. Together they raised five children, Paula Lynne, David Richard, Betsy Anne, Dale Robert, and James Leroy. Betty was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved being a homemaker and took great pride in decorating her home for each holiday and season of the year. She was a marvelous cook, an excellent seamstress, and a talented artist and crafter. Betty loved cats, especially her beloved "Pansy" who was a faithful companion for over 20 years. She was a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoyed reading, listening to music, and flower gardening. In addition to her husband of 68 years, Betty is survived by her children, Paula & Rick Hernan of Warren, David Dickerson of Russell, Betsy Hutchinson of Oil City, Dale Dickerson of Clarendon, and James & Elaine Dickerson of Warren. She is also survived by her ten grandchildren, Trevor Rodgers, Todd (Stacy) Rodgers, Tierney Doutt, Tristan (Matt) Evans, Tara Doutt, Tyson Doutt, Zachary (Elyse) Dickerson, Kelsey Dickerson, Aaron Dickerson, and Sarah Dickerson; two step-granddaughters, Jennifer (David) Szymanski and Elizabeth (Matt) Sandlin. Twelve great-grandchildren and a great-great granddaughter, due on Betty's birthday. Survivors also include, her devoted sister, Sandra Ransom, and her husband William of North Warren, and a half-sister, Jane Crouch, and her husband Paul of Warren. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, John H. Hutchinson, Jr. and her brother, Everett R. Burke. A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will follow at Warren County Memorial Park, Starbrick. The Peterson-Blick Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
