Avalon "Dutch" Elizabeth (Powers) Niles Clawson, 95, of Lander, PA, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2015, at the John and Orpha Blair Hospice House, following a brief illness.

Avalon was born April 1, 1920, to the late Ralph and Martha Powers, of Warren, PA.  She worked for many years at S.S. Kresges in Warren, PA, and retired from Warren State Hospital in

She was a lifelong member of the Warren First Church of the Nazarene.

She is survived by her son, Bruce Niles, of Lander, PA, and daughter, April Niles Kirberger, of Tuscon, AZ; one brother, Robert Powers, and one sister, Martha Finefrock.  She is also survived by five grandsons, Kelly Niles, Clinton Kirberger, Ray Kirberger, Steven Sorenson and Samuel Sorenson; and six great-grandchildren, Thomas Niles, Matthew Niles, Dominique Kirberger, Tayln Kirberger, Adrianna Kirberger, and Wesley Kirberger, and one great-great-grandchild, Larissa Niles; and many nieces and nephews.

Avalon was married to the late Kelly Jay Niles in 1944, until he passed away on July 14, 1950.  She married Dory Clawson in October 1985, until his passing in July 2006.  She was also preceded in death by her daughter Starr Evangeline (Niles) Sorenson, of VA, and her sisters, Nina Firster, Elva Wilson, Marion Bickel, Ruth Huck and Fern Hoy.

Avalon's body has been donated to science, as was her wish for many years.  A celebration of life service will be held at the convenience of the family and will be published when available.

In lieu of flowers, or even sympathy cards, the family suggests you buy a loved one flowers, or do something nice for someone.
