Aileen V. Wilks, 84, of Warren, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at UPMC Hamot Medical Center surrounded by family.  Aileen was born August 30, 1933, in Philipsburg, PA. She is the daughter of the late Marshall and the late Eleanor (Spotts) VanLierde.

Aileen was a 1951 graduate of Philipsburg High School; she then attended Philipsburg Nursing School where she earned her Registered Nursing license.  She was employed by Warren State Hospital for 37 years, retiring in 1991.  Aileen will be fondly remembered for her love of cats, her cheerful spirit and happy smile.  She also enjoyed traveling with her group of friends for many years.  She was a member of the Pleasant Community Church, Circle 8 Square Dancing, and was active at the YMCA.

She is survived by her husband: Joseph D. Wilks, whom she married September 2, 1955, in Youngsville; one daughter, Sandy L. Wilks (Jim), of Warren, PA; one son, Joe Wilks (Becky), of Downingtown, PA; seven grandchildren, Joey, Nate, Rachel, Leah, Mary, Jason and Justin; 9 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her aunt, Mary "Betty" Leathers, who supported Aileen following her mother's death.

Friends will be received at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, Inc. 1003 Penn. Ave. E., Warren, on Saturday, March 24, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at which time a funeral service will be held there with Rev. Michael Poindexter, pastor, Pleasant Community Church, officiating.
