November 17, 1935 – February 27, 2015
Ada A. Riel, 76, of 655 Rouse Ave, died unexpectedly on Friday, February 27, 2015, at her residence. Ada was born November 17, 1938, in Warren, PA, the daughter of the late John E and the late Mary J (Stingle) Vaow.
Ada was a lifelong area resident and a member of the First Church of God. She also attended church at the Salvation Army, where she was an active and devoted volunteer for many years. Her life was largely spent helping others and raising a large family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a friend to many. Ada was an avid reader, enjoyed roses and loved to garden. She will be missed by many.
Ada is survived by three daughters, Charlotte Hagg and husband Robert, of Youngsville, PA, Bonnie Wilson and husband Boyd Jr., of Sugar Grove, PA, Darlene Dean and husband Frank, of Jamestown, NY; five sons, Rev. Charles Riel Jr. and wife Terrie, of Pleasantville, PA, Leonard Riel and wife Donna, of Sugar Grove, PA, James Riel of Wrightsville, PA, John Riel and wife Mary, of Warren, PA, and Alton Riel of Chandlers Valley, PA; three sisters, Ellen Wallace and her husband Larry, of Garland, PA, Dorothy Rounds, of Warren, PA, and Mary Ellen Hunzinger and her husband George, of Lowville, PA; a brother, Raymond French and his wife Carol, Warren, PA; thirty eight grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Ada was preceded in death on November 20, 1984, by her husband, Charles J. Riel Sr., whom she married on January 1, 1957; two grandsons, Jacob Riel, and Joshua Riel; and a sister, Jane Derring.
Friends will be received at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home Inc., 1003 Penna. Ave. E., Warren, PA, on Monday, March 2, from 5 to 8 pm, and at the church for one hour prior to the service.
The funeral will be held 11:00 am on Tuesday, March 3 at First Church Of God, Warren, PA with Rev. Bill Hargenrader, partor, officiating. A Celebration of Life will follow.
Burial will be in Westview Cemetery, Warren.
The family suggests memorial donations be made to the First Church of God.
