Troy was an incredible mentor, colleague and friend. I'm deeply saddened by his passing, but know that his fight is over and that he is in perfect peace with Our Lord, Jesus.  I consider myself beyond blessed to have known him.  Every bit of expertise I've gained around paying for college I owe to Troy.

I'll miss you, pal.  But, I'll never forget what you've taught me, our conversations around faith and family, as well as your undying courage and positive attitude.  You were a man that lived with great purpose and intention.  Heidi and family, my thoughts and prayers are with you.  ~Blessings, Joe

To the Onink family,

We were so saddened to hear the news of Troy.  He touched so many lives in a very positive way, especially with his discussions and knowledge on heart issues.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

My deepest sympathy for the passing of your loved one Troy H. Onink. During this difficult tome of grief and sorrow may you be comforted by what Jesus said and did.  Jesus said their will be a resurrection. John 5:28-29.  The resurrection of Lazarus who had been dead for four days and others gives us hope of what he will do in the future when he rules as King of God’s Kingdom for a Thousand Years. Dan 2:44  Then we will be able to see our loved ones again. Acts 24:15

I extend my heartfelt sympathy to Troy’s family. I met him & his family when I first joined the Sugar Grove Free Methodist church in 1983. I am praying for his family during this difficult time. Love & prayers, Barb Carroll

So sorry to hear of Troy's passing.  I know the extended Onink family has been "through the fire" with sadness and tragedy lately, and I am praying for God's continued presence with you all.

I worked on a couple of cases with Troy and we became friends. He was very knowledgeable in his specialty of college funding, a great family man,  and very humorous to be around. May his memory be for a blessing for his family and friends.

I am so sorry to hear of Troy's passing. I was pleased to meet him and spend time with him because of his work for Forbes. His interview with me, which occurred several years ago, is rediscovered several times a year as counselors and parents find it online. His preparation for his work made it successful, and I knew I was in the presence of a thoughtful, enthusiastic, intelligent, and committed professional. And I sense he was an even better family man. My thoughts, and those of many others, are with you.

I worked with Troy in 2015 through Strategee in planning for my daughter's college education and just looked him up today to forward his contact information to a friend.  I came across the Forbes article indicating that college financial planning had a lost a great leader and am so very saddened for his loss as it was clear even in the phone conversations that I had with him how much he valued spending time with his family.   I am sending thoughts and prayers as you approach the one year anniversary of him leaving the world for Heaven.  I am so sorry for your loss -
