Stephen Joseph Massa, Jr, 76, of Warren PA., died unexpectedly on Thursday, September 3, 2020, at UPMC Hamot Medical Center, Erie, PA. Stephen was born on September 2, 1944, in Warren, PA, the son of the late Stephen J. Sr. and Lucille Lindberg. A 1962 graduate of Warren Area High School, Stephen served in the United States Army, stationed in Germany, where he proudly earned a rank of SGT E-5 during his service. Stephen worked at Osram Sylvania for 38 years and was at one time the President of the Union. He loved to antique with his loving wife and used to sell vintage items at the Salamanca Antique Mall. Stephen’s passion for history led him to the Robert H. Jackson Historical Center in Jamestown, NY, where he served as a docent for several years. He recently wrote and published a book titled, “Justice Jackson and the Perpetrators.” Stephen enjoyed sports, reading, spending time with his wife, and watching his granddaughters cheer and grandsons play ball. Stephen had a vigor for life, strong work ethic, and took pride in his family and the values they withheld. Stephen is survived by his wife Nancy E. Ballard Massa whom he married on February 26, 1966; their children, Michael Massa (Shelly) of Clarendon, PA, Kelly Burger (John) of Broomall, PA, Kendra Pantuso (Bill) of Bradford, PA, and his daughter-in-law Amy Massa of Warren, PA; his siblings, William Massa (Mary), Fred Massa (Judy) and Mary Eames, all of Warren, PA; grandchildren Adryona, Salysa, Kyarra, Danielle, Brittany, Caroline, Loralei, Chloe, Phoebe, Lucien, Jackson, John, Andy, Will and Anna; and a great-grandson Nate. In addition to his parents, Stephen was preceded in death in 2018, by his son, Vincent “Vinnie” Massa. Friends will be received at the Peterson-Blick Funeral Home, Inc., 1003 Penna Ave. East, Warren on Tuesday, September 8, 2020, from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am at the Grace United Methodist Church, 501 Penna. Ave East, Warren, on Wednesday September 9, 2020, with the Rev. Bill Beaty and the Rev. Jeff Ewing officiating. All state Covid mandates will be followed and masks must be worn. I did not know Steve well, but well enough to know that he was one of the good people God puts in our journey here on earth. Rest with Jesus Steve.

To the entire Massa family. Please accept my sincere condolences on your recent loss. Steve was a stand up guy and a friend. I enjoyed the many times we sang together on the bus after high school football games and at our reunion gatherings. He will be missed.

Sorry for your loss; Steve was a classmate at WAHS in 1962. I last saw him at our 50th reunion and enjoyed talking with him about the book he recently published.
He will be greatly missed by all of us.
