Jane Kay Atwell, 72, of Warren, and formerly of Tionesta, passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2017, at her home following a lengthy battle with cancer.  Jane was born December 17, 1944, in St. Marys, PA. She is the daughter of the late Harold and Grace (Bloomgren) Simon.

Jane was a 1962 graduate of Warren High School.  She and her late husband, Arthur, opened the Frosty Chalet in Tiona, and later owned Atwell's Fashions in Warren.  She was a member of the Tiona United Methodist Church and the East Hickory Methodist Church, but had attended the Emanuel United Church of Christ while living in Warren.  Jane was a former member of the Eastern Star and Amaranth.  She will be remembered for her cooking and baking, quilting and crocheting, and love of gardening.  Above all else, Jane loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by four children—Aaron Atwell, of Somerset, Holly Colvin, and her husband, David, of Warren, Sheila Atwell, and her companion, Ken, of Ludlow, and Ashley Atwell, and his companion, Melissa, of Clarendon; 7 grandchildren—Mackenzie Check, Noah Colvin, Wesley Atwell, Allyson Atwell, Ireland Brusso, Ellie Mae Mohney and Rayna Atwell; three brothers—Gary Simon, and his wife, Pam, of Jamestown, NY, Barry Simon, and his wife, Jewel, of Warren, and John Simon, also of Warren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death on September 26, 2009, by her husband, Arthur Ellis Atwell, whom she married October 20, 1962.

Friends will be received at Emanuel United Church of Christ, 1710 Penn. Ave., E., Warren, on Wednesday, July 5, from 10 to 11 a.m., at which time a memorial service will be held there, with Rev. Madelyn Edwards, and Rev. Martin Reynolds, co-officiating.  Burial will be in Starr Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial contribution should consider the Cancer Care Center at Warren General, 2 Crescent Park West, Warren, PA 16365.
