Kara Marie Giegerich Donaldson, 35, of Warren, passed away at home on Saturday, January 2, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. Kara was born March 1, 1980, in Warren, PA. She is the daughter of Thomas and Elsie (Rapp) Giegerich of Warren, PA.

Kara was a 1998 graduate of Warren Area High School. Until her health no longer allowed, Kara worked for R.W. Larson as an administrative assistant. A very active member of the First United Methodist Church, Kara touched the lives of many, and will always be remembered for her singing and love of music. She also enjoyed the outdoors, hiking, kayaking, and was a dedicated Pittsburgh Pirates, Steelers and Penguins fan.

In addition to her parents, Kara is survived by her husband of 13 years, Matt A. Donaldson; two sisters, Lori Snyder, and husband, Blair, of Lake City, and Jena Baile, and husband, Jason, of York; three nephews, Joel Snyder, Nevyn Baile and Eli Donaldson; two nieces, Hope Snyder and Rosslyn Donaldson; her mother and father-in-law, Gail Donaldson and Rev. Gary Donaldson, of Waterford; brother-in-law, Shane Donaldson, and wife, Colleen, of Edinboro; her canine companion, Dozer; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Kara was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Richard and Hazel Giegerich, and maternal grandparents, Myron and Pauline Rapp.

A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 9 at First United Methodist Church, 200 Market St., Warren, PA with Rev. Dr. Mark Hecht, and Rev. Jon Swart, co-officiating, and Rev. Marcus Briggs, assisting. At Kara’s request, please wear your favorite Pittsburgh attire; but because she loved people more than her teams, guests are encouraged to wear their favorite team’s apparel.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to The Cancer Care Center at Warren General, 2 Crescent Park West, Warren, PA 16365.

Please except our condolences to your whole family from ours. I know that this isn't the right time to think about what God wanted for her, but He has a plan for everything that He does. Because we are human beings and have to experience the loss and grieving...His plan for her is in heaven for whatever reasons.

Such a tremendous privilege to play music for Kara and her family at her bedside. She was a rare individual--gracious and kind to the core, with the loveliest speaking and singing voice and a beautiful smile. I will never forget her as the shining star in "The Fantasticks". Peace and heartfelt sympathy to Kara's loved ones.

"Perhaps they are not stars, but rather openings in heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy.” Eskimo Proverb. If this is true the night sky will be much brighter. I will watch for her "opening" and thank God always for putting her in my life.

How lucky I was to be "Aunt Debbie" to a funny little girl who couldn't eat chocolate (it made her "mean") - who grew up and became a beautiful, courageous young woman - who loved and was loved. My thoughts are with all of you.

What an amazing woman of God, doing just as He wanted...being Jesus to others. I'm sure God was pleased to welcome her into his loving arms as he spoke the wonderful words of "well done my good and faithful servant". May God offer peace and comfort during this time to her family and friends.
