Irene D. Bloom, 97, formerly of Shatzle Dr., of Warren, and Jamestown, NY, passed away on December 25, 2019, at the Kinzua Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. Irene was born on October 10, 1922, in Jamestown, NY, to the late, Axel W. and Cornelia (Largren) Norberg. She was a 1941 graduate of Jamestown High School. She was employed at Blair Corporation for 22 years as Supervisor of the Mailing Department, retiring in 1984. She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church and St. Paul Lutheran Women. Irene enjoyed traveling with her husband around the United States, along with a trip to Sweden. She enjoyed camping with family and especially enjoyed her grandchildren. Irene is survived by one daughter, Nancy Davis, of Warren; two sons, Ronald Bloom and wife Cheryl, of Russell, and Jerrold Bloom and wife, Althea, Simsbury CT; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 2 nieces; and 4 nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death on January 5, 2003, by her husband, Bernard C. Bloom, whom she married on January 24, 1942, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Warren; and two brothers, Gunnard and Gust Norberg. Friends will be received at St Paul Lutheran Church, 306 Conewango Ave, Warren, PA 16365, on Saturday, January 4, 2020, for one hour prior to a funeral service, which will be held at 11 am, with Rev. Lawrence Scofield, pastor, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the St Paul Lutheran Church, 306 Conewango Ave, Warren, PA 16365 or to Hospice of Warren County, 1 Main Ave. Warren, PA 16365. Burial will be held at the Pine Grove Cemetery, Russell.

Family: Pease accept my sympathy. I enjoyed interacting with Irene whenever I visited Kinzua. She was certainly an interesting and feisty lady. Her absence will be a huge loss to the care unit.

I am thinking of you as you’ve lost a very special mom who made an impact on many lives. She was a close friend of my aunt Marie Mathis, so I often heard her mentioned. I think she was the last of their “club” of many years—maybe they are playing cards again now.
