James Swanson Obituary

James A. Swanson, 80, of Warren, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at the Warren Manor. Jim was born October 28, 1943, in Kane, PA, the son of the late Arthur and Vera Swanson. He was a 1961 graduate of Kane High School and earned a Bachelor’s degree at the University of Cincinnati. He was a lifelong CPA, most recently with Summit Financial. Jim was a member of the First Lutheran Church. He and his wife were active in various functions at the church such as ushering, bible studies, and senior fellowship. He also enjoyed engaging with other local CPAs over coffee. Jim is survived by his two children, Lori Eaton and husband Rick of Warren, and Michael Swanson and wife Gina of Pittsburgh, PA; six grandchildren, Jessica (Tyrell) White, Jeff Eaton (companion Ashley Cristea), Jaimie (Tanner) Stanz, Alexander Swanson, Charlotte Swanson, and Jonathan Swanson; six great grandchildren, Jordyn, Jason, Jackson, Tyson, and Ryleigh White, and Peyton Stanz. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Pamela Ann Conn Swanson, whom he married on May 7, 1965. Jim spent his early days in Kane on the football or baseball fields, the basketball court or perfecting his Lone Ranger gun twirl. After earning a full scholarship to the University of Cincinnati, he began a 56-year odyssey with his beloved wife Pam. He was fully dedicated to her and his selfless acts of devotion, particularly acting as primary caregiver in her later years, are admired by all who knew him. Jim was proud of his Swedish heritage and their famous trait of stubbornness – he wore his famous “You Can Always Tell a Swede, But You Can’t Tell Him Much” sweatshirt approximately every other day from about 1985 – 1991. Jim was extremely proud of his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids and enjoyed telling anyone and everyone of their numerous accomplishments. He was also proud of his solitary hole in one on #2 at Conewango Valley (although some of us are still waiting to hear of an eyewitness account). Goodbye Jim, you were loved, and you will be missed, but you’re back with Pam now, which is all you ever wanted.
