She is survived by two nieces, Leslie Johnson, of Mobile, AL, and Laurie Bucholz, of Fayetteville, TN; two great-nephews, Eric Phillips, of AL, and Ben Johnson, of Vancouver, Canada; and several cousins, including Eric Gay, of OH, and David Gay, of AZ.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death on August 30, 1964, by a half-brother, Frank Carleton Gay.

The funeral will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 300 Market Street, Warren, PA, on Tuesday, July 25, at 2 p.m., with The Rev. Rebecca Taylor, pastor, officiating.  Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.

Carla was a long time friend. She was an exceptional caregiver for both her mother and patients at Warren Manor. I never heard an angry comment from her, but always caring, compassionate and sometimes humorous words of understanding. Our bonds as friends remained strong after I moved out-of-state. Human life is like the blinking of an eye, however the memories of phone chats and outings will always have a special place in my heart.

Carla and I met at a Hospices group, she lost her mother and I my husband. Doris, Lyn, Rick and Anne were also part of our special group, the loss of someone. After 4 or 6 weeks of sharing, what were we to do, so we decided to go to dinner. The 1st Tuesday of every month to stay in touch, share what we have been doing, support each other if needed, someone was there, she will be missed at the table, here big smile, stories of her cat.
